Jack Lalanne dies at the age of 96. I think people in Singapore remember him for promoting his famous Power Juicer on TV. He was promoting how important it is for you to have your fruits daily and showed how easy it is to make your own juice by using his Power Juicer.

Apart from those above, his previous achievements during his young days really sets him apart from other athletes. He is an amazing athelete, with resilience in mind and body even through out his old age. I mean, how many people can do 1000 push ups in 23 minutes! Wait, how many people can do push ups in 23 minutes?!

Seriously, how cool is this phone? I think after seeing the video, you can see the potential of smartphones in the future. You do not even need to have a PC if you have one of these. It looks better to bring one of these rather than lugging around a laptop or netbook. The down side however, is you may need a smooth surface to display the keyboard and sufficient area for it to project. It would be more cool if it could project a holografic screen rather than projecting it on a wall.

Here it is! The spidey suit. I have to say it looks way cooler and darker than the previous 3 movies of Spider-man. See how the Spider-Man symbol on his chest seems to be clawed against something sharp. Most probably this scene is after an amazing fight scene, and the picture just shows how tired and lonely he is. He seems to be on a mind of his own, thinking deeply or possibly feeling angry. An evil side of him brewing inside him perhaps? Anyhow, I can't wait to see the new movie. The new Spider-Man looks leaner not buffed, which I think is appropriate. I do not know about you but Spider-Man has to be lean and skinny, he is after all a teenager who was bitten by a spider. So a potrayal of a young adult man who have not gain much muscles mass because of his time mostly taking photographs is issential in this movie. And I think they have excecuted it well.

I am very happy with the suit, although it looks different but it is a fresh look. Hopefully this Spider-Man is more tougher and please no more crying or sad scenes. It was a bit way too much of it for the past 3 movies. I want more deepth and darkness, this is the part where he meets all his greatest villians and nemesis. It is like fighting an opposite of himself. It has always been like that in all great movies. The good guys face the likelihood of turning to the dark side and tries not too. This is a movie of how good triumphs over evil. He is fighting the other side of himself that he has surpressed within him all this while.

My big question is when will we see Carnage?

Apparently after a quarrel with his daughter, he was arrested in Los Angeles. He is in the news for the wrong reasons. Hope all goes well for this man, an opportunity like this doesn't come easy so he better make best of what he has been given.

Ted Williams, who had struggled with drugs and alcohol, became an overnight celebrity when a video clip of his voice skills filmed while he was on the side of an Ohio highway was posted on the Internet last week by the Columbus Dispatch newspaper.

He was flooded with job offers and brought to Hollywood -- where he was arrested after officers were called to a disturbance at his hotel Monday night, and taken to a local police station, according to LA Police Department (LAPD).

The LA Times newspaper quoted sources as saying there had been an altercation between the 53-year-old and his daughter. Both were released after about an hour, and no charges were pressed, said an LAPD spokeswoman.

Williams was offered a two-year job with the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA club. He visited the home of the LA Lakers on Monday, and was in town for interviews with "Entertainment Tonight" and other media outlets.
Williams, who pleaded guilty to theft charges after being arrested last May, had been living in a tent when he was discovered in the online clip showcasing his deep vocal tone and polished pronunciation.

You want to call the football legend, you have to offer him a good deal. He has a family and he sure wants to bring the best for his children. I am not sure the intention of FAS for calling him but do not waste his time unnecessarily.

If you want to build footballers like his calibre, he needs to be disciplined on the field and also off. We have seen a number of our own local players being in the news for the wrong reasons. Time to beef up the discipline of our footballers so they can be the best that they can be. It's not just about money, it's also about country.

FAS president Zainudin Nordin will be meeting Fandi later this week.

In a desperate measure to salvage the remaining dignity of the country’s national soccer team, the Football Association of Singapore has approached football legend Fandi Ahmad.

According to The New Paper (TNP), FAS president Zainudin Nordin confirmed that he is contact with the 48-year-old to talk about national football team matters. But he declined to comment if he has indeed offered Fandi a job.

Mr Zainudin who is also the mayor of the Central Singapore District said, “I am in touch with Fandi on a regular basis. My policy has been consistent. I will talk to whoever can contribute to Singapore football and people who are stakeholders.

“I have spoken to people like Fandi, Aide Iskandar, Lim Kian Tong (FAS vice-president), and we are looking at the future, creating strategies and looking at new way of doing things.”

It was reported that Mr Zainudin will meet with Fandi later this week to discuss the possibility of him rejoining the FAS as a coach.

The football legend is also one of seven local coaches with the Asian Football Confederation professional diplomas, the highest coaching qualification in Asia.

Well, maybe the time is right to bring Fandi back considering it has been a dark and dismal year for the Lions, who pathetically mustered only one win throughout 2010.

Players lacked of discipline and poor performances led to a poor finish in the Asian Cup qualifying and Suzuki Cup campaigns.

Matters came to a head last week when Mr Zainudin announced the decision to drop all players in the national team.

But with the FAS president rallying behind the national squad’s current coach, Raddy Avramovic, the only possible option for Fandi would be to fill in the vacant assistant coach’s position, a stint which the latter enjoyed success when the Lions won the 2005 Tiger Cup.

However, sources who spoke to TNP poured cold water on this idea. One of them said, “Fandi has already been the assistant once, and he’s proved to be successful.

“He has all the necessary qualifications to be the head coach and I don’t think the FAS can convince him by offering the role of an assistant.”

Yet another source said, “If the FAS can provide Fandi with a sound and detailed plan in which he can be involved in the national team’s development, who knows, he might consider.”

Still, those close to the former national team captain said that while enlisting his help would be a good move, their opinions are split about when would be the right time for him to rejoin the FAS.

Kadir Yahya, who was Fandi’s former international team-mate said, “People should give up on this idea for now.

“Look, Fandi is already preparing to go to Italy with his kids, so he’s definitely not going to e the national team coach, or Raddy’s assistant, any time soon.”

But R Sasikumar, who scored the winning goal in the 1998 Tiger Cup final against Vietnam, said, “As Fandi is now Genova International Soccer School’s project manager in Asia, the door is slightly open for him to be involved with the national team.

“He will be heading to Italy next week to help his sons find accommodation, schools and academies, but Fandi’s heart is still here with Singapore.”

The 35-year-old also cited Fandi’s knack of working with youths, both with the Young Lions and Indonesian club Pelita Jaya, as a quality the FAS could tap on.

Sasikumar added that Fandi should be brought in to “lead the Under-21 team, where he is given the free reign to select his players based on merit.” This, he said should be done with the view that the youths will eventually form the senior team’s backbone with Fandi in charge.

Perhaps there is a need for the FAS to revise its options and instead of rallying behind the current coaching staff, the time might be right to place Fandi at the helm of the country’s national squad.

YEs where has the fitnessdesigncoach been? Elusive as he appeared and then he disappeared.

I been here most of the time. Had a short trip to Bintan for a holiday with my family and it was a great time. It was quiet, beautiful, scenic, ahhh... and it's only an hour's ferry trip away. I want to go there and feel the warm water again. It was a short getaway but a deserving one.

Apart from work and life, I wish to share with those who are still reading my blog that I have found a special someone in my life. Yes, FDC is in love. :) He has found a beautiful girl. When the time is appropriate I will show our photos together hehehe...

So apart from love, life and work what has been happening the past year? Well my poster design won third place in the 'Safety Starts With Me' Competition. Yeah I was proud that they showcased my work. Spent weekends trying to do it. Needless to say I didn't spend enough time for myself because of that poster. :P But I won third, so at least I know I still got that design touch.

WOrk now is still hectic as usual, you goota be quick and smart on how to handle difficult situations and find ways to resolve it. ALthough I really wish with a change in new management soon that there will be much a lesser load and more ppl on board to help out with the tons of work piling each day. I guess time management is essential but a good team is very important to get things done right. Although I wish I had more time to sleep... heheh...

I am currently studying also. Doing night classes. 3 times a week and I am nearing my term break. Phew.... It is like running a marathon, so much to do, so little time as I rush to finish off my assignments as much as I can. It is not easy since I been getting a lack of sleep lately. But the colleagues have been really helpful and so far I am doing ok.

So am I going to disappear again for another year? Probably not, just that I may not update as often. I do miss blogging, it is where you pen your thoughts into the servers and showcase it to the world to see that you are still living and well. :)

So as much as I would like to write I must end my sentences here. But I will be back soon.

Months on and what have happened to me?

So long since I've updated my blog. Mostly because I been so busy with work. Work, work, work..... Haizzz... Being a working adult, you feel the grunt of pressure from work and the realisation that earning a living is never easy. Everything has gone up. I do not need to go into detail as what has gone expensive.

Anyway, my foot is kinda healed. Although, during long walks I still feel a little bit of pain. Morning walks takes some time to get used to for the first hour. Apart from that, I can still continue walking as usual.

Fasting has been a challenge. The physical exhaustion you feel at the end of the day really gets to you. And a good sleep sometimes isn't sufficient. Bear in mind that I still have to do preparations for the Hari Raya. I was so over worked one time that I had pains in my chest. I had to see a doctor and he booked me for an appointment with a cardiologist for a better assessment of any underlying condition that I might have.

Singlehood is a wonderful feeling. You get a sense of new found freedom. Not that I feel being in a relationship is like being on a leash, but rather, I think more of me than me and her. Still, it is a human craving to be with someone one day. Someone who you can spend time with without boredom. Someone you can joke with, play with, talk with, eat with, etc... To find that right match isn't easy, it is like searching the right puzzle piece to fit yours. But after thinking abt it, I think it is more of how two persons mould a block of clay and make it something special. It doesn't have to be perfect, but when both accomodate each other and give each other support, the result is a sense of satisfaction. You can easily look into each other's eyes and realise how much you want to be with him/her.

Over time, as number of your age increases, you get a hint of how mid-life crisis is. You will take a look back at the things you have missed and things that you would have done differently. Have you achieved enough? Is today enough for you? Can you achieve more? You cannot change the past but you can still reshape your future. I think the main problem with me is procrastination. I tend to put things back and that would usually end up with me rushing to get things done. I feel that the main reason is distractions and the downlifting mood aka laziness. So combat this problem I've done a few mental notes which I can do.

First is, exercise. Some light exercise will really lift your mood. You will sweat, and after that have a cold bathe. You have this refreshing feeling that anything is possible now. Now GET BACK TO WORK!

Second is the distraction bit. If you must, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! Let's face it. In our house we have so much distractions! TV, internet, games, food, etc... If you have a laptop, bring it out and do your work outside. Find a good spot (this requires you to do some scouting), a place where there is a Hotspot and a power point. If you can, bring a buddy along so he/she can look after your belongings. Because when you are doing your work, you will have the urge to go to pee. Trust me, such places with hotspots really do get cold. Bring a sweater along if you can.

So that kinda sums up what happened the past months. Although I do not foresee a break in my work, I hope the work load lessens. I do miss studying, and I hope if I have the finance, I would study. ANyway, enjoy the weekends!

Day 4: Wrapped like a mummy

My foot looks like a wrapped mummy. The yellow thing that is covering my skin is some kind of paste that is suppose to keep my foot from moving too much.

Actually it works. Usually I would wake up with a stiff leg but ever since I used that the past two nights, it's been pretty helpful in my healing process. I can walk a bit without my crutches but it sure still hurts a lot after that. I am still limping. The bruise has not subsided and the swelling hasn't also. But I am kinda upbeat that I can still limp around without my crutches. Although I still have cramps on my shin and calve sometimes. Probably due to lack of movement on my leg.

Day 3: A trip to the doctor in crutches

Today I got an assessment from a doctor. It wasn't good. The swelling hasn't gone down and he told me to rest more. If the swelling and pain still persist, I might even have to go see a 'sports' doctor.

He got a nurse to do some kind of 'pressure' bandage on my foot to relieve the swelling.

I think it is going to be a long time before I get to see any improvement from my foot. Hard enough already that I have to limp around in my crutches, my arms get really tired moving around. If they had a mutant gene to heal this wound, it would be so cool.

Day 2: Getting used to my crutches

Waking up this morning is a real pain, I can't even put my right foot down without feeling an intense pain. I took a bath sitting down on a chair, and had to make my own breakfast which took a pretty long time because I had to go in and out of the kitchen to take out the bread, nutella, water..... haizz.. When all was set on the table, I just slumped on the chair, trying to catch my breath.

Maybe I am trying to keep up with the speed I usually walk, but I was hungry, and when you are hungry you usually put in that extra effort to get your food.

Anyway, I took a look at my foot and it looks pretty bruised and swollen. Trust me, it looks even worse 'live'. The other side of my foot also looks bruised, but I didn't bother to take it because I had trouble taking proper photo of it at that angle.

So, looks like it's goona take some time before I can start running again. Gosh I so miss running....

Yup, another pair of legs to walk and I ain't going any faster.

I had a pretty bad fall playing basketball, although I can't recall exactly what happened, but I remembered going after the ball with my fren who was my opponent. He was dribbling the ball actually, and he ran quite fast, so I did my super speedy chase to block him off, but somehow we collided and next thing I knew I was on the ground, clutching my right ankle. Oh the pain was excruciating, it took me a while to stand up and I had to laugh it off to numb the pain off.

Anyway, took a trip at A&E, doc said there was no fracture although he said my ligaments might be pulled pretty bad since I couldn't put my foot down properly without cringing in pain. So an appointment is set for me to go to see a doc at polyclinic.

Now, I am walking with crutches and it isn't easy. Walking with an extra pair of legs really takes a lot of energy. Looks easy but it ain't, now I know how much difficult it is doing simple actions at home. Heck, I had trouble taking my apple juice from the fridge, not to mention the difficulty of wearing shorts. I think I should just wearing a sarong.

So I've got 51 years left to live

Michael Jackson dies at the age of 50. The King of Pop, who was scheduled to do his last performance this coming July, dies from cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at 2.26pm, Thursday, Los Angeles.

When I heard the news, I was out participating a bowling competition, and the bowling alley played MJ songs all night. No doubt he was a great entertainer. His moves will always be a classic and will be copied by many. His songs were great and will be remixed, reedited, etc by other music artist.

The most memorable music video of him to me was from the song 'Beat It'. I remember watching that for the first time, and I so loved the choreography and the bad boy image in the video. It was so cool and I tried copying his moves when I watched it then. He still had his original skin color tone then, the wavy curly like hair and he was really good looking. And the trademark red jacket he wore, I don't think you can find much of those kind of jackets nowadays.

Whatever those anti-MJs may say. I say Beat It! He is no doubt the King of Pop. He grew up a different life than ours and he did try his best to help others. I do not think he is a child molester, and I seriously think it is just some people using an opportunity to take advantage of him.

Do not ask questions when you are on a roller coaster

I love to ride roller coasters. They are fun and gives you that few mins of adrenaline rush. It makes any man squeal like a girl and mouth wider than when you ate a Big Mac. Now imagine doing all that while you are thinking about answering a few questions.

Do not ever think that you can try doing it. The build up before the drop can already cloud your thinking. I just wished they had a heart rate monitor when they were asking him those questions. It would have been more fun to see how his body reacts to such pressure.

Giving up

Every task at hand given to you, is a challenge or test. And when you are handed that task, the first outlook at it seems to be impossible. Especially when you are loaded with too much burden on your shoulders.

For example, you are winded, out of breath, the sweat drips profusely down your face, you are breathing heavily and your legs feels heavy. In the distant you hear your physical trainer screaming, "You see that hill, let's see what is up there!" And in your head you go "Whaaattt?..... You have got to be kidding me" and the next thing you know, he just past by you and turns to you, jogging backwards, shouting "Come on. There's a nice view up there".

What do you do next?
1. Hell no way! I like the view here just fine
2. Let me sit down first.
3. Errrr... okayyyy
4. Ok, I'm coming
5. Bring it!

You see how many words can sum up an excuse and you just need just two words or even one word to get your body and mind moving.

The human mind can generate millions of excuses for not doing one thing but it just takes a few words to push one to do it. Amazing isn't it. Just look at Nike. The slogan is a 3 letter word "Just Do It". Simple words and when you tell yourself that, you move like a machine. Now imagine your boss saying that to you 'JuST DO IT!". How much of those words resonates through your body and you hasten yourself to get the job done.

Sometimes people need a push to get them up and running. For it is true, if you don't do it, it will never get done.

US President Barack Obama, during his presidential election race, stood by the words "Change" but he emphasised on the words "WE can change!". If you want your country to change, you have to make the change yourself. Most people do not realise the potential they have and are hesitant to take that challenge.

Personally, many at times, when I run, in between runs I feel like giving up. I feel like stopping. I feel like I can always do better another day. But what if you can't stop, or there won't be another day. What if that day itself IS your last day you will ever enjoy running.... would you stop?

We Singaporeans are a pampered lot. Admit it. We have a running public transport system, we have food available everywhere, water running in our homes, electricity to turn on our tv, PC, iron, etc.. We have almost everything. All the amenities you need are within reach. And yet, people give a lot of excuses for not being able to get things done. Yes I agree time is a luxury we do not have, then that is where we have to learn time management. Thinking ways to resolve a problem is the first step of NOT giving up.

It all comes to YOU. YOU have to make that change. YOU have to change your mindset. YOU can do it!

Anxiety problems

Mental problems is a serious issue, especially among Singaporeans. I used to have a care free life, like most kids when I was young, I was out playing football, flying kites, exploring, have small little adventures with my friends from school.

But when you grow you, and your mind starts to get complicated, that's when it gets too complicated. I suffered anxiety attacks before without knowing what it was. It happened on my first day in primary school, it happened during my National Service, it happened too during my working life. What really pisses me the most is that there is no real cure for it. It is unlike a headache where you can just pop in an aspirin or panadol to make it go away. You have to talk to someone about this before you can calm yourself down. And it can take days before you put your mind back in perspective. Sometimes you can laugh yourself silly during the anxiety or even after it is gone. I guess maybe it is some kind of reverse psychology the minds try to play to not allow yourself to break down.

The reason why I am writing this is because I recently had that anxiety feeling again. It wasn't a good feeling at all. I wasn't sleeping well, I felt tired most of the time, and my interest in the finer things in life just doesn't seem to interest me at all. Don't get me wrong, I still do love my family, my love :), my friends, I just am not interested in other things that used to rev me up any day. Like running, weight training, doing pull-ups on my horizontal bar, watching a good movie, surfing the WWW. It took me a while to .... how do I say it... 'acclimatize' my mind to the new responsibilities I was laid down with.

During those days of anxiety, I was trembling inside. I looked fine on the outside but inside was so full of worry. I never talked to God so many times in a day, asking him to help me get through this phase. I admit it was difficult. And for many moments, I do not think anyone understand.

It was only today that I read up a column in Today's newspaper. It touched on the topic of anxiety by Dr Bill Maier. It talked about stress getting out of hand. Apparently, extreme anxiety is more prominent that people think. And very often, those who have gone through it do not know what to do or where to turn to. Some stress is irrational and can become so severe that it immobilizes a person for weeks at a time. That is when you need professional help.

Yes I agree sometimes stress can work with you instead of against you. For example, it can make you stronger or work harder but one has to know the limit where it can get out of hand. Dr Bill Maier advises those who have gone through long periods of depression/laziness to seek help, like a doctor.

My advise to you if you suffering to anxiety is to talk to someone about it. Please talk to someone who can help, not just any other friend. Some people can put you down even further, that just aggravates the whole problem. You need to talk to the proper people. And if need to, seek counselling or go see a doctor about it.

1 Merlion hit how abt the other Merlions?

I read about it and watched it on tv. Our dear Merlion was struck by lightning. Some say it's an omen, well I say Singapore gets a lot of lightning strikes every year so it is no surprise something like this happens.

So how many Merlions do we have?

Well, we have original one (that got struck by lightning). There is also the 'baby' merlion (which I wasn't there to witness it's 'birth') situated just behind the original. Then there is the big Merlion at Sentosa which can shot lasers out of it's eyes. Then there is the other two which is not so often mentioned, one at Mount Faber and the other at the Tourism Court. So that makes it 5 Merlions (recognized by the Singapore Tourism Board).

I think they will start installing a lighting rod on or near the damaged Merlion (although I do not remember if they did installed one before..) . I wonder how much it's going to cost to repair and install the new lightning rod.

Maybe after this incident, safety checks will be done on the other Merlions too?

Why doesn't Singapore have this kind of car?

I love this car. Seriously I love it. It has everything you need when you go to the beach. Yes it looks like one of those car toys you buy at Toys R Us, but it's like a swiss army knife for your beach outing, it has a picnic table, radio, beach chair, underseat storage, ice chest, tool kit, flashlight, portable water hose, portable gas stove, etc! And when you fold the seats, your car becomes an indoor bed!

If you are those who like to go the beach during weekends or on those long holiday weekends, this is the car for you. Why I think it is suitable for Singapore? Because Singapore has a lot of beaches, it is an island! Crappy as this car looks, imagine the amount of space you save when you go to the beach? You won't have to cramp all those beach items in your car because your car has already have it!

Do you still rush to the escalator and join in the bunch towards the opening of the escalator even though there is a nice flight of stairs going down? You have gravity by your side, why not just go down the stairs and work those feet?

2 cents reduced per trip

If you are using a child/student concession:
1 cent reduced per trip

And.....

But....

the reduction of fares does not apply to cash fares and single-trip tickets for trains, so you better get your Ez-Link. Just take it as an additional 'must have' card in your bag/wallet. Without it, you'll be spending more on your bus/train fares and you might not even be able to buy that Big Mac you have always wanted...... unless you have cash in hand of course.

So the more you use, the more you 'save'. I am just wondering if a glitch might happen for such changes especially with the old Ez-Link cards still being used.

I have been absent

I have been absent because of work. Yes, work. Late nights, morning coffees, usual headaches but manage to squeeze in runs in between. I am so tired and drained that every sleep I get is a satisfaction. Recently, I bought a new pillow. It's called the 'Memory Pillow'. It gives you good memories when you sleep...

..... nah I'm joking,

The pillows is a special pillow which follows the contours of your head so you get the support where you need it. It is suppose to give you a better sleep,.... well if you as tired as me, any sleep is a good sleep. Haha!

So what's up with the fitnessdesigncoach?

4. He had a great 1 month anniversary (she made me family a blueberry cheesecake! NO! I am not married la..),

I think significantly, I've been talking to God a lot more. Figuring out what his plan is even though it can be really frustrating when I do not get what I want (like an Aston Martin). But hey, like the saying goes, patience is a virtue. It is a virtue indeed, with the current economic crisis already on full swing, it seems to be a bleak future for everyone and everyone is being careful on what they buy. But we got some pocket money this coming month (GST credits), so remember to spend some and save some or maybe invest it on something worthwhile.

But I always wonder how bad it really is, because when I read past history, if the economy is bad, we should be seeing a lot of ppl sleeping on the streets, free hot soup being made on the pavements for the poor, ragged clothed ppl walking around, etc. Here in Singapore, it is still bustling as usual. Ppl still do their shopping, ppl still eat at fast food restaurants, schools are still functioning, cars are still plentiful, so what gives?

Maybe I am blind but if you take a walk past midnight at Aljunied MRT station, you'll see ppl sleeping on the floor. Some on the grass field. I counted at least 30 maybe even more if you include those ppl sleeping on the grass (which is almost impossible to see without light). Are those ppl the ones who have been hit badly by the recession?

For those who just lost their jobs, don't lose hope. Keeping fighting looking for that job, even if it is of meager pay, go for it, at least you got something to tide you through. I believe that if you work hard to get what you want, you'll eventually get it sooner or later, just do not give up. Do not ever give up. It is a mind suicide if you give up. Even if you fall, get up, take a few steps and walk, then once you get your momentum going, keep running. Each downfall is a lesson and an opportunity to regain yourself. DO NOT GIVE UP!

It's hard not to get angry with Israel

Interesting twist as to who actually broke the ceasefire deal. It seems Israel was the one who broke the ceasefire deal. They were the first who made the first 'shot'. They bombed them first, of course, their reason is because they were targetting tunnels that are carrying weapons.

Well, I don't hear any Hamas bombing their logistics line when US kept sending them weapons.

Regardless of what was the purpose of those tunnels, whether it was weapons, food, or medicine, Israel can't just bomb them. You may say that they could use those weapons to attack Israel, well to me, they need those weapons to protect themselves from Israel! How would you feel if your neighbour started to bomb your country because their 'intelligence' say you are smuggling weapons? You don't just go in and bomb them, it is THEIR COUNTRY! You can't just bomb another country! It is already at act of war!

I think that's why Hamas retaliated, firing rockets into Israel. Who wouldn't be pissed when some country started attacking you.

Another lie to justify Israel's attack and who gets killed? Civilians! And now even the people helping to give aid are targeted. This is just sick. Israel and US still think we are so stupid to listen to their propaganda, and the world is not doing enough to stop this!

I was surprised not seeing Jobs in the Macworld Keynote address. He is the face of Apple. I didn't think much about it during that time because I was interested on what Apple is offering this year and I kinda forgot about it after watching the keynote. Until I got one of those email newsletters from ZDNet and one of the links in the email read 'Apple's Jobs being treated for 'hormone imbalance' '.

I think you'llhave noticed that he has lost some weight. I thought he was on some kind of diet plan or exercise regime that made him look a lot thinner. But apparently he is having a hormone imbalance that is "robbing" him of the proteins his body needs to be healthy.

Well I hope you get well Jobs. Hopefully we could see a much more healthier you in the future. :)

COD vs COH

I love these games but sadly my lappy has a limited number of Gigabytes to put it all in. I've been really late on the best games on the market, but better late than never they say.

COD 4 is my favourite, if you like a quick action right into the battle field, get COD 4. Yeah I know there's a new COD in stores but I don't think my specs meets it's requirements. So anyway, get Call of Duty if you want to have a close realistic feel of being in the field of battle. They won so many awards for this game and I think the makers of the game deserve it. You goota try out this game to believe how realistic the game is.

Just remember to turn up your speakers or best yet, put on some headphones and feel the pounding of the M1 tank shooting while you are taking cover behind it. It is almost deafening!

COH is another of my favourite. When I was a kid, I love strategy games and I still do but recently I am into 1st & 3rd person shooteer games so I was out of the strategy game thing for quite some time. Until a friend of mine introduced me to Company of Heroes. This game was awarded Game of the Year 2006.

Although it is an old game, it is still a interesting game to play. The game is slightly different from other strategy games. You need to control Victory points kinda like strategy points, the more you control, the more quickly you'll increase your resources. Also, in certain maps, certain points are more important in getting control than the other, so you'll have to really strategise and know which points are worth controlling first.

Why? Why did I even step into that store.

It went something like this. I went in with my friend into this store selling female accessories. You know like pins, brooche, etc, things that girls usually wear on their hair, ears, clothes.

So, I was like the only guy in there, and I looked around. Small store but it had all these little ornaments around and you just need to pick and choose what you want and place it in a small basket. It was colorful, it was interesting, until my eyes caught the attention of something long and glittery like.

So I took it, looked at it and that's when my friend asked," Do you know what's that?"

I went: "Errr.. hair band?"

X-men Origins: Wolverine, the movie trailer

Yeah! Finally it is coming!

The movie I have been awaiting for so long. The Origins of Wolverine.

I remember when I read the comic back in my NS days when they revealed the Origins comic of Wolverine. It was just an amazing comic. Finally they wrote about his past and how he became what he is now.

The first time I read his comic, I know he is my favourite. His aggressive nature, his self-less attitude, the kind of guy you would like to make friends but not piss off with.

He is like the ultimate soldier. His animal instincts, his ability to heal quickly, his unbreakable bones, the best NS buddy you would ever wanna have! Haha! With a buddy like him, you can sleep well at night. Unless of course if you happen to piss him off, then you better hope you have some mutant powers for yourself too.

Apart from Wolverine, another favourite character is in this movie, Deadpool! Yeah, the merc with the mouth! This guy is ugly but apparently in the movie he looks fine. Deadpool can heal too like Wolverine but his comics are more funny and have this weird humour to it. He sees the brighter side of things even though things seems to reach a pessimistic end. I always wondered who will win if both of them meet head on. Both can heal, both are great in combat, just that Deadpool is the funny one and Wolverine is the serious one.

And in this movie, we will see Gambit. Yeah, finally we get to see him. But I am not too happy with the actor chosen. I was hoping it was James Ford. The guy from the TV series, LOST. But nevertheless, I hope to see Taylor Kitsch pull this off nicely. Because I hate to see all these actors act so sparingly on film.

The movie will be out 1st May 2009!

Personal opinion of the trailer:

Frankly the trailer didn't made me go "Woah!" I felt a little lack of anticipation for it. Probably because I felt that there was just too much explosion and action going on in the trailer. I wanted a more darker feel towards it. More just Wolverine rather than showing him with his Weapon X team.

I am just afraid that the movie does not portray the guts and grits of Wolverine I love. I remember him as the angry one, less talk and more action. Brutal outcome! Walking away without remorse.

I want to see his despair losing his love ones which develops into anger. I want to see Wolverine as he was meant to be seen. Raw, bloody, violent!

I just hope it doesn't look like the first Hulk movie.

My EEE Pc 900 HA is finally here!

Well, it wasn't delivered to my house and SingTel didn't inform me that I had to redeem it. I presume it was to be sent to my house together with my Free Modem but on the day the guy delivered me the modem and I inquired abt the Netbook, he said he doesn't know abt that, he is just there to deliver the modem.

Straight after that, I called up SingTel, and after a few minutes of waiting, the CSO picked up. OK he was really nice and he did went all the way to find out what is the status of my EEE Pc. After a few minutes of checking, he said that a redemption letter was sent to me last week but I wasn't at home, but the delivery guy did leave a reminder letter on my door/gate to pick up the redemption letter at the SingPost. Ok this is the part where I really do not like. Reminder letters left on the gates can be missed understood as SPAM! Yes, you know those paper leaflets that people leave on your door.

Futhermore, the email sent to me abt my upgrade plan did not state that I need to redeem my EEE Pc or any redemption letter will be sent to me. For your info, I upgraded my internet plan online and they sent a summary of internet plan to my email which included what I will get for free, delivery time, activation time, etc.

So anyway, I think the CSO knew I was a bit unhappy abt this, he went to check the status of hte redemption letter and gave me the reference number for me to redeem the letter at SingPost and even the number to call. I was happy that he went all the way to do that from his side, so at least I didn't get more confused later on.

Ok, at this part I got a wrong assumption. After calling SingPost and SingTel, I thought I was going to get my EEE Pc at SingPost. But when I got to SingPost, I only got the redemption letter. After a long wait in line, I just came in there only for the REDEMPTION LETTER!

It was not use fretting over it, so I immediately opened the letter and read that the redemption was to be made at an office in Burlington Square. And it closes at 7pm, I checked the time, it was almost 6pm. So I took the MRT from Tampines to Bugis. I walked through the Bugis village and to my surprise I met my aunts. After a short chat, they decided to follow me to redeem my EEE Pc.

Long story short, I reached the place and after a short wait, I finally got my EEE Pc in a box. The only thing I didn't like about this part was that they didn't have a plastic bag for me to carry. So I had to carry it all the way home. Luckily, this product wasnt' so heavy.

I was happy I got my EEE Pc but I was not happy with the following:
1) No notification that the EEE Pc was to be redeemed or a redemption letter was to be sent to me.
2) SingPost should have a better way of informing ppl that we have letters/package to be taken at SingPost rather than leaving paper leaflets at the door/gate.

Anyway, here's my EEE PC.

I do knot know why they are complaining about the space bar. It's not that short, I can still use it seemlessly, the only problem I have using the keyboard is the Enter and right Shift key.

The mousepad works smoothly, and it has this finger gestures you can make on it for easy scrolling and zooming.

I am still exploring but I love the EEE Pc, it is so small and light, plus it has a pretty big Hard Drive, 160GB. It also has 3 USB ports, Webcam, LAN port, Mic and headphone jack, SD Card slot and a 15 pin Display port for you VGA outputs display.

The specs are pretty good too:

Intel Atom N270 processor
160GB HDD
1GB Ram
Wifi

I'll probably upgrade the RAM in the future or the HDD but for now I am just sticking to what it has.

This is something you can carry around. I carried this without any trouble when I walked backed home with the whole thing together in the box. So imagine how light it is when you just bring the Netbook around.

The keyboard just takes a little getting used to and the 8.9 inch screen is pretty sufficient to do your surfing and typing. I rather bring this to a cafe to do my work than my other Asus Notebook, which even though is portable, it is also quite heavy to carry around.

The lady who taught me how to read time

Back when I was a little kid, I wasn't the brightest in class but I was pretty inquisitive. At the same time I was pretty much timid also. It kinda hindered me to learn more in class. It took me a while for me to gain my courage and voice out my questions in class.

I was about seven years old then. Just entered primary school education. I wasn't good with learning all these new alphabets and numbers. Actually, previously I received Arabic education in my kindergarten days. English wasn't much spoken in class. Most of the time, the class was conducted in Malay and I learned some basic Arabic sentences. So it was pretty scary for me seeing these new letters and numbers.

A significant time in my life I remembered when I was given homework to do. It was a bright sunny afternoon, and I was sitting in the living room floor, trying to figure out how to read the time on my math exercise book.

It had pictures of clocks with the minute and hour hand, pointing in different directions. Needless to say I was puzzled. Not that the teacher didn't teach me, she did but like I mentioned before, I was a timid boy then. I knew the 'short' hand points to the hour of the day but I couldn't figure out how to read the 'long' hand when it points to a certain number.

My grandma, whom I guess saw my 'plight', came over and assisted me. She pointed to the clock in our living room and slowly explained that each visible numbers (1 to 12) is in multiples of 5. I was still puzzled as to why it is so.

She further explained that there are 60 minutes in an hour. And every big number (1 to 12) is in multiples of 5 minutes. So 5 mins x 1 equals 5 mins, 5 mins x 2 equals 10 mins and so on.

By this time I was pretty excited about this time reading thing. I started to exclaimed to her "So, if the long hand points to 6 it means its 30 mins!"

"Clever!" she said.

After figuring out this "amazing time reading ability", I was doing my homework effortlessly. I was writing down the time of each clock picture and I was quite happy for myself. Of course, my grandma was always there, looking over to see that I was doing it right.

After finishing my homework, I spent my time reading the TV programmes section of the newspapers and naturally I learned how many hours and minutes left before a show begins on TV. I would tell her what time her shows starts, and what time it ends. Yes, I was excited. Because now I can read time.

Twenty years on, the lady who taught me how to read time have passed away. My grandma passed away at her home last Friday.

Many moments in my life, when I have failed and others thought badly of me, she was there to console and encourage me to do better. She used to say "Amy belajar pandai-pandai, belajar tinggi-tinggi. Nanti esok Amy hidup senang. Takpe, sekarang memang susah nanti dah besar nanti hidup senang." She calls me Amy. Sounds like a girlish name(which I found out later in primary school) but actually it's a guy's name too. (just for your info people)

It's nice to hear that someone believes in you and gives you hope. It was an encouragement that pushed me to learn and make use of time to gain knowledge whenever I can.

MotoGP coming to Singapore

We had the Formula 1 and before that we had those speed boat races at the Singapore river in front of the Esplanade.

I think Singapore just like things fast, and now we are going to have MotoGP. Frankly, I prefer looking at bike racing rather than 4 wheel racing. I find it more exciting bikes fighting for top place and cutting out each other on each corner. Not forgetting the wheelies they do when they cross the finish line.

It is a nice feeling to go at high speeds with the power of the engine between your legs.

I guess that's normal when tensions are high in a football match. Everyone just wants to win but when the other wins unfairly or an unfair decision was made, players have the tendency to play it rough.

Frankly, the referee should have intruded and be firm towards the players rather than walking back deeper into the field. Give a red card ref!

The news are so busy talking about the North Koreans, yet not much is reported about what is happening in South Korea. If it wasn't for my friend who told me about this group, I wouldn't have heard of them.

Their song is so catchy and so are their moves, esp the part when they clap and point. The girls won K-Chart No.1 for this cute song.

The girls are made up of Sunye, Ye-eun, Sunmi, Sohee and Yoobin. Personally I prefer them than the Pussycat Dolls.

MacBooks just got slimmer, lighter, more roobost. I like the look and how Apple has got into detail on making these notebooks. With the glass trackpad and the LEDs, which means it is energy efficient and has a slicker look.

Apart from it's looks, they are more robust now, with a great graphics card to play your favourite games.

And apparently it has become more environmentally friendly. Using smaller packages for their MacBooks and removing unwanted toxics from the MacBooks, Apple is leading their products into a "safe" product for the Earth.

Handphone is an amazing invention, but I think it has become an irritant. How many people's lives are lost because of errant drivers who use their handphones while driving, or how irritating it becomes when someone talks loudly on the public transport full of passengers, or when you are watching a movie that you paid with your hard earned money, only to be marred by some idiot who forgot to turn the phone off/silent.

Or how abt this? Listening to some idiot on the next toilet cubicle talking on the phone while he is doing his business. You can really learn a lot from his conversation but come on! You are doing a "personal" business, why would you want a twosome in there?

If I ever hear any hint of my friend being in a toilet talking to me on the phone, I'll just ask him to call me back once he is done. I don't think I wanna hear you let out your pressure sounds. Sorry, but I am NOT the scat type. It is just disgusting.

If you want talk to me when you are doing your business, call me when you are screwing someone. At least I get free porn.

I do not think these people are oblivious, they are just ignorant. It is just basic courtesy to switch off your phones during class, in a movie, in a concert, etc. Even if you forgot, quickly turn it to silent or better yet, switch if OFF!

I understand some calls are urgent, but not all calls rite? If you must answer the call, excuse yourself and leave the room. No one needs to hear you chatter away when they are there to concentrate in class.

A girl sat on my lap in the MRT

Ok, I should add the word, "accidentally" in my title but I just couldn't resist omitting that. Anyway, the story goes like this:

I sat on the middle seat, reading my notes. I was concentrating on it because I need to memorize some of the points in the paper. Anyhow, I recall the train moving, or should I say, accelerating then I felt a nice soft bump on my left lap. There was a short wobble and that's when I realise a girl just sat on my lap.

Needless to say, she was a bit embarrassed and I think some of the passengers saw the whole thing. She did apologise and I just replied "It's all right.." with a smile. To her rescue was her female friend who was in the train with her who quickly chatted up with her. I guess to make it look like it wasn't a big deal.

So how did she got to sat on my lap momentarily? She was trying to sit next to me, but the acceleration of the train made her lose her balance as she was about to place her butt on the seat.

So instead of butt-to-seat, it was butt-to-lap. A very soft landing it was.

In case you were wondering, she did sit next to me through out the whole journey. She was quite sweet looking too.

Yes, yes,.... I actually enjoyed that moment. Evil me....

Sad to hear another of our Singaporean sons died serving his NS. No one really knows why he didn't submit his MC, probably he felt he was ok, or he didn't want to be perceived as weak. It happens in the NS. When I had bowel problems during my days in BMT and was given MC, one of the Sargents there was being bloody sarcastic. "Oh, small stomach problem also got light duty eh? Then might as well don't serve la, stay home with your mummy", Needless to say I was pissed at him, if I had a gun I would have shot him..... well not literally, the idea just went pass through my head at tat moment.

Yes, NS life can really mess with your head sometimes. And some ppl can't take, and depending on the individual, they all have different ways of handling it. Some laugh it off, some become vengeful, some become suicidal,.... Let's face it, it is a whole new world in NS. And if you are like me, who has lived on that tiny island which seems to be a degree hotter than Singapore, you know what I am talking about.

The heat, the screaming, the endless push ups, the 'wayangs', ok well, it is all not that bad. The food was good, the bunk mates were great, the view was fantastic, the air was fresh.... except for that occasional stench when the tide goes down.

For those of you guys out there preparing to go for NS. My advice is to precondition yourself. Not just in body but also in mind. Involve yourself in outdoor activities that require you to be away from home for a period of time. You'll learn to be more independent and prepared.

And if you are sick or unwell. Just see a doctor and if it requires you to rest, you better rest! You may feel fine, but disregarding a doctor's advice is just playing a gamble with your life.

I think this clip puts the Joker as the hero rather than the villain. With the current economic crisis, the Joker seems to have a better plan at getting America out of recession. But with two villians facing off, I think both have different or rather evil intentions on their propositions.

Anyway, back to reality, confidence of consumers and investors are at a low. With the China food scare that is going around and the dwindling markets, we wonder where this is heading. America is still at war, and probably would want another war (haha! nothing new abt that), China is still trying to fix the food problem and many other problems plagueing their country one after the other ( to name a few: earthquakes, pollutions, tainted China products etc...).

Oil prices have taken a few dips, after a few scares that it might go even higher than predicted. Food prices has kinda become a little cheaper with all the food sales going on, probably because of the tainted China food products.

Here in Singapore, it isn't all that bad. Economy seems to be strong, ppl still do go out and shop. We still have options on food prices, not everything here is expensive, that is of course if you know where to look.

I think the main problems that are concerning Singaporeans are the jobs availability and high costs of living. With the influx of foreigners filling up jobs here, Singaporeans naturally have concern on whether they will be left out. Gone are the days when Singaporeans are sought after so much, now businesses rather employ workers who are cheaper but as reliable or willing to put more working hours than Singaporeans.

Costs of living is high here, I think anyone who have lived here long enough have realised that by now. But personally, Singaporeans still have options. We can still save a small part of our salary, we can still go out and buy cheap products, cheap foods. It isn't so bad really, eventhough I wish I could live more 'comfortably' here.

Comfortably meaning that I won't have to worry so much about my future. With no more pension paying companies anymore, we are left to fend for ourselves on our future. So knowing where to put your money is crucial if you want to live a comfortable life ahead.

We all know CPF is not enough to keep out standard of living constant after we retire(IF we retire at all). Singaporeans are living longer and are more conscious of their health. I see a lot of old men and women brisk walking, jogging and some even running around my neighbourhood. Singaporeans do know how to keep a healthy lifestyle, which I think is a very good trend for everyone else to follow.

So with a lot more older ppl in this country, I think it is time we add more character education in our school curriculum. Many times I have seen youngsters not giving way for passengers to alight, not giving up their seats, making a lot of noise, etc. We are beginning to see a lack of decency in our youths.

Maybe I was unfortunate enough to see the "Dark side" of the youths but I do not think what I have seen applies to all youths in general. I have seen sparks in the youths of today, some do still speak courteously, act graciously and offer to help those in need.

Learning to be respected one has to learn to respect other people.

To avoid an ungracious society, we have to start from the youth and work on from there. Religious and racial tolerance is necessary, and we have been practicing that for decades. A lot of it is necessary now with a lot of foreigners coming into our country. Singapore itself has become a 'rojak' culture. Eventhough it looks 'rojak' it is still a nice place to live, just like the rojak you eat at the stall; Messy array of food, mixed together but tastes nice still.

This kind of mixing of cultures, religion, races isn't new but with addition of new 'flavours' everyone now has to learn to get along with these new 'flavours'. And some how we can all find a balance and get along. I am sure everyone remembers the incident of having foreign workers living near our home. The concerns of Singaporeans living that area are genuine but at the same time I wonder if they were becoming a bit unreasonable.

An uncle of mind lives in a private house owned by his parents. There were some works going on just like 5 steps away from his front gate. Foreign workers where there doing some kind of heavy work and there were working on it for days. He has a sister who lives there at the time.

One day his dad made a jug of orange drink and brought out some plastic cups. My uncle was wondering what he was doing with it and asked him on his purpose. His dad replied, "Oh nothing, just saw those Bangalas out there working. So just thought of offering them some drinks." Of course the foreign workers were pleased when they were offered the drinks. There were small exchanges of words and smiles all around, what his dad did was gracious.

A small kind offer like that actually brings happiness to all their lives. It wasn't necessary at all for him to do that but as a human being, I think he knows these ppl are working hard, and in some way are contributing to our country. These worker are living so far away from home, and I am pretty sure not everyone likes to be so far away from home and work somewhere on a foreign country day and night, making whatever they have earned to send back some money to their families back home.

Not every youth is ungracious and not every foreign worker is a likely criminal.

We have to start from ourselves if we want others to treat us the way we would like to be treated. Be gracious and not look at others like as if he/she is a likely criminal.

Things do not always go your way

After working for some months, I began to see the cracks in the company. I seriously think the IT department has a lot of improvements to make on their online system. A funny thing happened when I was applying for a half day off that turned out with some strange results. And because my 'off' requires approval from my superior, he was kinda pissed with me when he got two time offs on a same day.

Some how the system "accidentally" sent two time offs to him and it confuses him and myself. I had to be firm with my explanation stating that I did try to send him the time offs for approval but I got a 'collision' error instead. If my time off submission was sent, it would have already reflected in the summary but it didn't, so how did he get that time off submission when I actually had an error that doesn't allow me to submit the time offs to him. I further explained that I already did called the helpdesk and even sent an email with an screenshot of the error asking for advise on this problem.

It kinda sickens me when something as simple as managing your time online takes such a long time to rectify. I wonder if I can ever apply leave at all!

Because of this, I wasn't able to do other side projects for the company. These side projects take time to do, it is not official, but we realise as a team that it is important to do it because it will benefit the future intakes next year.

I don't wish to talk more abt it because it just makes me boil thinking abt it. Obviously, there is something wrong with the system. I just don't want this incident strain our relationship, hopefully it gets resolved soon and I am going to make sure of it.

T-Mobile G1 Android Phone : An ugly phone with potential

I like the way how you can customize the way you unlock your phone. I like the keyboard slide, very helpful when you want to write a long email or text document. I like the buttons, the functionality, the ability to add widgets, shortcuts. I also like how it moves to landscape mode when you tilt your phone horizontally. I like the touchscreen too!

I just do not like the look of it. Unlike the Iphone where I would go "Ooo.... Aaahhh!" with my eyes and mouth wide open. It took me a while to appreciate how good this phone really is.

It looks pretty much simplistic even though it has so many buttons. And it has interesting shortcuts for you to access certain functions in your phone.

I think there are other specs that it lacks but I have yet to find out what they are. With so many news on the net about this product, it gets pretty confusing. I will update accordingly when I have found the right info about this product.

But I had this reoccurring dream that it is Friday and my mind kept trying to wake up but somehow my body just couldn't bother at all. But still, my mind kept insisting to wake up.

You have read about ppl killing themselves because of stress. Yes, the many ways of suicide you can read about in the news here on our tiny island. Be it jumping off a building, or jumping onto the tracks of an incoming train, or wrist slashing, etc. But even though stress can make you self mutilate, I think this story has a different take on how stress can enrage you to go beyond your own limits.

This man stabbed his wife several times, IN FRONT OF HIS CHILDREN who were pleading him to stop! The lady survived the attack but the man went further in trying to saw off her head. Woah! This guy seriously have issues!

Noel Gallagher attacked on stage during a performance

Despite being pushed down, Noel manages to get up and Oasis continued playing about 5 mins later. Even though they could have ended the concert there, they continued on to play till the end. Sounds like Noel seems fine, but latest news revealed that Noel has a broken a rib and suffered ligament damage. Hope you get well soon Noel.

You can see from the video that the attacker was going after Liam next but he was quickly brought down before he could even reach him. I think it comes to a shock to everyone seeing something like that happen during a concert.

The whole incident happened in Toronto, Canada. I am just surprised by their lax in security. How could anyone get on stage so easily like that?

What an amazing event. I think no one is able to reach his record for a very long time. To pass 9.70 seconds is almost impossible but Usain crossed that mark comfortably without any tail wind.

This camera just makes you go like Keanu Reeves in the Matrix saying "Wooooah.....". With it's ability to catch still shots at 60fps, you can capture those moments in several motions in a second. What it means you can create slow motion shots. I think some of you guys are begining to realise the potential of this camera.

It records in HD video. And you can record your videos in 1200fps. Imagine if you have this camera for the olympics or better yet for the coming Youth Olympics here. Although it seems a a little grainy looking on the playback but I think we going to see a lot of better versions of this in the time to come.

A little low on its resolution, only 6 megapixel, but it's unique features makes it up for it plus it has a 12x zoom.

Apart from it's interesting features, the camera looks light and compact, great camera to bring along on your vacation trips.

Li Jiawei holds the RESPONSIBILITY as the flag-bearer to NOT let the flag touch the ground

I can't but feel disgusted at what Li Jiawei did, whether it was intentional or not. Anyone who holds the country's flag has to hold it up right and not let it touch the floor. It is a sign of disrespect to let it touch the ground.

Even if carrying the flag is heavy, (which I doubt it is since everyone else was carrying their own flags with pride and she was waving her hand while holding it), she should at least try to keep it off the ground. You do not necessarily need to wave the flag, just KEEP IT OFF THE GROUND. And seeing her dragging it, I mean literally dragging it across the ground, I feel like screaming at her. OMG! I didn't see her realising it or even try to keep it off the ground during the entrance walk.

Yes, I saw her waving her hand, even if you want to wave, watch the FLAG! Make sure it is not touching the ground! I would prefer her waving the flag than doing that.

I don't know if she was so happy to be in China or seeing so many of her Chinese people there, but she forgets one important thing of all. Her RESPONSIBILITY as the flag-bearer.

I mean like in a battlefield. You can watch in the movies, how important the flag is. It is also a symbol of strength, even when they are shot or missing a limb, the soldier still holds it up as high as he can before the next soldier comes in to hold it up after him.

If she can't hold it up right, let someone else do it. I am not sure if she volunteered or someone picked her as the flag-bearer. But anyone, who is responsible for raising or carrying the flag has to be briefed at the rules and how the flag should be carried/raised.

Of our National Day and the passing of my great-grandma

43 years on, and Singapore still lives on as a independent state. We can't forget those who have sacrificed a lot to make our country what it is today.

2 days ago, I received news from my sis that my great-grandma has passed away. Hjh Marfu'ah Binte Hj. Arshad, at the age of 92, passed away in her home. She was the headmaster of 'Sekolah Melayu Kampong Glam' in Arab Street. She was buried yesterday morning at Pusara Abadi.

We love you and miss you great-grandma.

Such a positive report. For one thing, we don't have much riots or people going on strike. Such things are illegal. So, again, the govt of Singapore are lucky that Singaporeans are a harmonious lot.

But let's get back to the facts here. The way I see it, Singapore's police force is under-staffed and we have had a high jump in population over the past years. The amount of foreigners have increased, surpassing a million. We have a lot of events going on every year, with the National Day coming in a few days time, with quite a considerable amount of security being deployed. Not to mention the armed forces marching during the parade and also those helping out with the National Day event.

I remember reading about how our policemen and women are working over time. I even heard of a friend's friend who couldn't get leave for his engagement this year. Rumours or not, this problem has to addressed. With the upcoming IR in the works, I wonder if we have enough police to patrol our streets.

This is one race I hope Singapore won't come out tops. I am not surprised really, especially with everything rising, including our food, energy, etc. It's expensive to live on this small little dot. So much has changed in the past years that you wonder where this is heading.

In Asia, Singapore is ranked 5th. In South & South-East Asia, we are ranked 1st, beating Mumbai, India for the top spot.

Splash? I thought splash is scattered water. Well correct me if I wrong, but if it was a "splash", then the water flowing out of his urethra would have no contact on the rail isn't it? There has to be a constant flow of water to allow the electricity to flow from the Live rail to his body.

Anyway, I guess we may never really know how he actually died. He's a Polish tourist who came to England to improve his English. Well even if the signs are hard to read, at least such signs like above means some form of danger. But like I said, when you goota go, you gotta go. Maybe he was too excited to see the signs....... that is IF the signs where there in the first place.

Bowling event brought together four generations of families

For three hours, as many as 20 out of 24 bowling lanes in SAFRA, Tampines was noisily interrupted by the laughters of a large family consisting of 120 people.

Happiness and flurry was clear evidence that this event was a success - Hajah Marfoah Haji Arshad's large family were very joyful and got to know more about one another.

An event like this with the purpose of bringing the family even more closer together, is rarely done in a large family such as this. Most families would usually make a party event or a picnic.

As much as $3,500 was spent for the event.

The four generations of Hajah Marfoah's family - from the age of two months to 73 years old - wore the same colour T-shirt.

Hajah Marfoah, 91 years of age, was the headmaster of Sekolah Melayu Kampong Glam in Arab Street. She has 12 children, 41 grandchild and 57 great grandchild.

The group chairman of 'Family Of 46' or 'Keluarga 46', Mr Murshid Nasir, 43 years of age, an Executive of Operation in a company in Changi Airport, said:

'We began with organising a celebration for Mothers ' day on 2006 and then a tour to Pulau Redang, Terengganu, and Kelantan last year.

'This time it was slightly unique... playing bowling together. Indeed it was enjoyable when the family got together having fun. A stress reliever!'

Family 46 name was derived from Hajah Marfoah's family previous home number at Jalan Kechot near Jalan Eunos. The event ended with benediction.

The car that runs on AIR!

Wow! We have cars that run on hydrogen, CNG, Biofuels, water, electricity, and oil. Now we have a car that runs on AIR? Can you imagine going to the fuel station and instead of stopping at the petrol pump, you stop at the air pump to fill up your car. Plus, it has zero pollution, well apart from the noise pollution that it emits, other wise, the only thing that comes out of the exhaust is cool air.

I think they won't replace the cars soon, but they might be appearing on public transports like buses and taxis. If air is free, then we shouldn't be given the 30 cents surcharge on our cab rides. What do you think?

World's oldest blogger dies at age 108

Wow! 108 years of age. I don't even know if I even live that long. But to be able type and your memories still fresh is just amazing for someone her age. I think she will be in the Guinness Records for being the oldest blogger in the world.

I wonder if her blog will be archived somewhere since no one will be updating it now.

Family 46 Bowling Meet 2008 cum Gathering

Wow, what a day I had, I haven't been blogging much because I been so tired lately preparing for the day. Had a lot of practice at night (literally bowled till after midnight) with me family and also took time helping out with the committee on organizing the event.

I did a simple logo for me family. And no, we don't have 46 people in our family. 46 was the name of the road of our old meeting which was our late Great-grandpa's home. I have a pretty big family so usually we meet up at Lorong 46, Jalan Kechot. Not just during Hari Raya but on every other occasions we would meet up. The house still stands but now with a owner. The reason why it is such a memorable place for us was because, a lot of us grew up together with the home. The area used to be so 'kampung', so when I was a kid, we all had a lot of play area. We would run around, play hide and seek, explore the 'kampung', Singapore was still growing then, there were still pockets of 'kampungs' here and there. I guess I was quite lucky to see a a bit of it before Singapore became a concrete jungle.

Anywayz, the event was really a blast. Basically no one left empty handed, there were prizes for the top scorers, best team score, second and third placings. But there were other categories of winning, like Perfect 100, Score 46 only, Most balls in the 'longkang', First Strike of the game, Most funniest bowler, Most supporting team, etc and many funny categories. Most didn't know about it until the prizing giving ceremony at the end.

The kids had their own categories too, yes, they played too! We took up 20 lanes out of 24, so imagine how many people were actually playing. It was really fun. During the game itself, we all tried to out do each other, and give support at the same time. There were a lot of screaming, shouting, sighing, and with the loud music, it seems like everyone was on adrenaline. Haha!

FRIENDS The Movie

Yeah the rumours are running around about a movie from the famous comedy sitcom, FRIENDS. Seems like the rumours are true! They are going to bring the them back on to the Big Screen! Wohoo!!

I grew up watching friends since I was a teenager. It was my favourite show. I think it was showing on Monday nights. Which I look forward to it everweek, and FRIENDS always perks up my night.

I remember how my friends and I use to associate ourselves with the characters. There is Joey, the Italian laid-back actor with his cool pick-up lines. Chandler, the funny office worker who sometimes talks too fast and thinks really quickly with disastrous results. Ross, the pessimistic but intelligent whining guy who even with his PhD, seems to be making a lot of mistakes in his life. Phoebe, the 'able' guitarist with her much different outlook on life. Rachel, the pretty one who sometimes makes silly decisions in relationships. Monica, the perfectionist, who likes things clean and organized.

I just love the cast, it was really a sad day when FRIENDS came to a close. Ten years was a long time, and I am sure there were many of us who didn't want it to end. But we now will be able to see them together again. Can't wait to see them again next year!

6th of July is a special day

I opened up my wallet and looked at my driving license. It has been one year since my TP test. No more 'Triangle' plate for me. Haha! Now the two plastic reflectors are stuck in my room, a reminiscent memory of my 'driving learning' days.

Still in good condition, I think I'll keep it for my siblings when they take their driving license.

Change your body car easily

I was impressed with the design, I like how it doesn't use petrol (we need less polluting cars), I like how you can change from right-hand driving to left-hand driving, I like how spacious it looks, I like the tv cameras situated around the car and also the possibility that you can change this family saloon car into convertible sports car within 30 mins.

But what made me go "WOah!" was how easily the mechanics remove the car body. It looks like the way we change our phone cover, just unsnap, remove it and you put on a new car body. Not forgetting how much easier it is for mechanics to fix or do maintenance on the car with that kind of simplicity.
